Why do some people get nosebleeds when jumping into swimming pools?
Jonah W asked:
I used to get nosebleeds all the time when jumping into a pool. It gets me really mad because I want to do flips into the pool but I can’t because I’lll get a bloody nose. My nosebleeds have really limited my swimming abilities and swimming fun. I do have allergees though. What causes this and why does this happen? Lots of other people get this too.

Probably because you’re trying to do that backflip off the diving board and keep hitting your nose…

Do to your allergies your nose is probably already sensitive then you jump into a pool full of chlorine and the water rushes into a your nose. If the nose is already irritated this could cause a nose bleed, it can also be caused by high blood pressure or the anxiety or excitement of the moment. The blood rushes into the head and the veins in the nose rupture due to excess pressure or a sinus infection. There are many reasons that cause a nose bleed I would suggest a trip to the allergist or an ENT.
