Does your hair really turn green when you go to swimming pools?
wasimjse asked:
I hear a lot of people here on yahoo say that their hair turns green from swimming in swimming pools. I cant believe this because i go to the swimming pool very often in summer and i have blonde hair but it never turns green. And I dont know anybody whose hair has turned green either. Do you put anything strange in you pools? Has your hair ever turned green or do you know or have you ever seen anybody whose hair has turned green from swimming pools?

When I dyed my hair blonde and stayed in the pool awhile going underwater alot it got a greenish tint not like lime green but it was a light green tint on the blonde.

They don’t mean full-on green, but you can get a greenish tinge in the sun. Usually this means there is too much chlorine in the pool or the person is spending too much time in there!

yes and you turn into a mermaid.

Yea because they have chemicals in the pool that make it turn colors for certain types of hair

OMG YES UR HAIR DOES TURN GREEN!!!!! Its from some chemical in the clorine. But in order to get it out out a little bit of baking soda and powder to ur shampoo.! Then wash it normaly again.

The clorine in the pool CAN turn hair a greenish color if it’s not rinsed out immediately after swimming.

Yes, my hair will turn greenish – esp. when I was a little toehead. I had a friend growing up with super white-blonde hair and she would literally get green “highlights” in her hair. It was comical – so she used special shampoo to neutralize the discolorations. If I go swimming and don’t wash my hair quickly enough after, it will cause my hair to darken and become an icky color.

If you have dyed hair or a permanent in your hair it could turn slightly greenish from the chlorine in the water.
My daughter’s blonde hair took on an orange tint from our well water before we got our water softener. and when I got a permanent the solution always turned purple.

my daughter has very blonde hair. When she spends a lot of time in the pool, her hair has a greenish tint to it.

It happens usualy with bleached hair. It’s the clorine, it’s slightly green. If you wash your hair well afterwards, thoroughly, you should be fine. Bleached blondes won’t be though
My old room-mate found out the hard way.
Could also be the quality of shampoo used, perhapse?

when you dye you hair blonde and stay in any pool for an extended period of time yes, your hair may turn green. I have never seen anyones hair turn green from swimming in a pool but i wasn’t really around any blondes long enough to really see their hair turn.

If you die your hair blonde, the chlorine from the pool will turn it green. I know people whos’ hair has turned green it’s not that big of a deal

The reason your hair turns “green” is from copper, not from chlorine…
See the link.

Usually natural blonde won’t change, but if your hair is chemically treated it WILL get a greenish tint to it. And yes, I’ve had it happen. All you need is a shampoo that removes chlorine…you can get them at Walmart. You really should use them no matter what color your hair is…chlorine is very bad for your hair.

Yes it a green tint if your haircolor is blonde. Due to the chlorine and other harsh chemicals from pool water.

if you swim a lot and a pool has a lot of chlorine in it can turn green or if you swim a lot and don’t wash the chlorine out then you can have the chance of it turning green i use stuff make for blond hair that takes chlorine out i have never had green hair but i still wash it with it since i do swim in my pool every day.
And actually this happend more to naturally blond hair. I am one.
