Does the water in swimming pools still contain chlorine?
Sweetness and Light asked:
I was told that nowadays, chlorine is no longer added to the water in swimming pools.
Is this true?
If it is, how do they desinfect the water?

And how about faucet water?
Does it contain chlorine?

yea chlorine is both in faucets and swimming pools but a LOT more in swimming pools, this is one reason people get water filters so they dont consume al that chlorine, chlrine is a chemical and can rid the pool of harmful bacteria!!

nope, chlorine is still used. lifeguards have to be specially trained on the job because the chlorine can be so toxic to inhale. don’t worry, in the pool it’s not enough to hurt you. as the water goes through the fliters it hits chlorine concentrations, then is filtered out. lifeguards also puts drops in. they do more than watch you swim.
same thing with faucet water.

C\hlorine tends to evaporate out of water when in pools. That’s why pool owners ADD chlorine to their pools. But faucet water no longer uses chlorine in many places. It has been replaced with chloramines, which are more powerful and longer lasting.

Chlorine is still used in most swimming pools, but more and more people are switching to salt water pools, which require less maintenance and don’t need added chemicals to keep the water disinfected.
