Does chlorine in swimming pools make your skin darker?

I’ve been swimming in an indoor pool for the past few days and my skin got darker than usual. It’s not because I am getting exposed to the sun more or because I am doing something unusual to my skin recently…so i think it’s the chlorine..but can it be?

Chlorine does not make you skin darker. I’m a swimmer so over the years I’ve noticed chlorine only affecting 3 things, it makes it harder to breathe (chest burns), weakens/lightens you hair, and dries out your skin.

It is the sun… Chlorine does not interact with your skin to make it darker…

It is not the Chlorine. If anything, Chlorine acts as a bleach.

No, itll do the opposite. it will irritate your skin and make you paler. Usually if you put too much chlorine in thouhgh.
You are probably just tanned from being outside, i mean when your not swimming. I dunno…

No. You tend to get darker while your in a pool cause the sun reflects off the water. The Chlorine doesnt do it. But it will dry out your skin… make you flakey… and if your blond… IT can make your hair a little green

Yes, chlorine makes your skin very dark without being exposed to sunrays. So that is the very reason that you have tanned your complexion. Apply a generous amount of sunscreen with SPF 30 (atleast) and then get into the pool.

You’ve got to be kidding me. Chlorine making something darker, think about it. Have you ever heard of it making something darker, not me, only lighter.

No i dont think that it is the chlorine…Atleast i have never heard of it…Maybe windows @ the pool could have leaked sun to you…the sun can get through many objects…

No. Skin color is from melanin in your skin which absorbs uv radiation from the sun. Chlorine doesn’t produce UV radiation however if sunlight is hitting the pool, it will reflect off of the water.
